	Paul Hamel, author of Cherokee Plants, wrote to gather plants in the same spirit that the Indians gathered. “Never take the first, or second, or third plant you find, nor take what cannot be used, nor take more than can be used." You will know the season and conditions to harvest the plants . It includes pages about preparing mordants for natural dyes and preparing plants for dye baths. The dye information is for cellulose fibers; but includes the differences in dying cellulose and protein fibers. It gives Cherokee and other SE basketry history and information about symbolism, about weaving techniques, dyes in traditional baskets and compares SE baskets.
